FAQ'S

Q.  Can't you come up with the money for his surgery?
A.  Certainly we are going to try like hell.  My husband is looking into a second job, and we are currently trying to find things we can sell on Ebay.  We have also implemented a strict budget to try and come up with the money.  Unfortunately we are in a bit of a time crunch and are unsure if we can come up with $5000.00 in the time frame that is needed.

Q.  You mentioned that surgery may not help Goliath. Will he be operated on if the Dr. is unsure?
A. No, if TPLO does not help Goliath there isn't anything else that will.  Dr. Suess has advised us euthanasia would be our most humane route at that time.  It would be cruel for us to put him through a surgery that will require 4-6 months of recovery time if he is still going to be in pain.

Q.  How did you know Goliath was hurt?
A.  It was gradual at first and seemed to be on and off again.  We persisted with the vets after Goliath's activity level decreased and he stopped hopping up on his normal spots like the sofa and bed.  He also started to take an incredibly long time to climb the stairs to the deck. And now there is a tell-tale "snapping" sound when he walks.

Q.  What is being done for Goliath's pain while you wait for the x-rays and consulatation with Dr. Suess?
A.  Goliath's dose of Rimadyl has been tripled and he is confined to the house more often than he would like to prevent further pain and injury.

Q.  Why should I give you money, especially if Goliath may not get the surgery and have to be euthanized.
A.  I'm not saying you should, we are only asking for help because we believe in karma.  Hopefully, if you were ever in a bad situation you would receive help from strangers as well.  And if Goliath does not have the option of surgery all monies collected will be donated to Joe's Promise.

Q.  Who is Joe's Promise?
A.  Joe's Promise is run by a woman I met while working for Capital One.  It is a mobile spay/neuter clinic that brings low cost spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations to areas where there may not be access.  She is also the woman who connected us with Henrico Humane Society to adopt Goliath. And for that we are very grateful. You can learn more about Joe's Promise at www.joespromise.org.

Q.  What is Goliath's life expectancy and quality of life going to be like after the surgery?
A.  The surgery has a 90% success rate.  Goliath will no longer be in pain and since he does not have any other health problems, his life expectancy is the same with any other dog of his size.
